Rupture and repair are important processes in (group) therapy. Rather than striving for perfection, the therapist acknowledges that there will inevitably be mis attunements and injuries and focuses on recognizing and repairing such issues. Applying the approach to groups emphasizes enactment instead of interpretation. The emphasis is on acknowledging empathic failures and discussing them with the group, thereby attempting to repair the hurt and creating powerful experiences that members wish to have with their significant others. Moving to online therapy, the group therapist immediately faces a lot of challenges, many of them seemingly technical ones. Interrupted Internet connections, freezing video, time gaps between lip movement and the voice, difficulties focusing, and being present are some of the obstacles that affect online therapy. The failing technology is tiring, distracting, disappointing, and frustrating. However, if we look at it as another kind of psychological rupture, we can change our view of these failings and see them as opportunities for repair. In presentation will be summarized the literature about rupture and repair, and bring vignettes from groups.
