The story of my life in 5 steps, in writing, images and colors.
Transcultural identities, Imaginal Biography: Wilma Scategni
Biography Imaginal laboratories in the form of group workshop’s working method can be easily used in the analytical framework, psychotherapeutic and psycho-social education, adapted to different contexts (cross-cultural developmental psychology, mental health services, disability, addiction, psycho-social and educational areas, etc. ). The Jungian thought, has always stressed the nature of cross-cultural images of the unconscious. They emerge spontaneously from the depths of the psyche in dreams, active imagination memories and in all forms of artistic expression, assume significant importance also in determining (more or less unconsciously), choices in everyday life, coloring the background and the emotional content of consciousness.
Each workshop has the following functions: 1. Create a space-lab for «reading my own images»: the most important image that you expressed in dreams, memories and imagination in the different phases of your life (writing, painting, body expressing in Psychodrama etc.) What these images evoke as memories and emotions in relation to your personal feelings? 2. Work on the identification of a sequence of 5 images one for every step of your life that has to do with the unfolding of its history 3. Create a track-bridge autobiographical writing through images, words, movement and music of your existential journey 4. Lead, through reflection, identification aware of what is considered reasonable reserve for you own as personal experience, instead of what you want, and you can share in the group context and / or your relational world 5. Reflect together on use of this method, in therapy and in different contexts, identifying traces the development of working methods in relation to your own professional context (land trans-cultural, disability, Addiction Psychiatry, developmental age, etc …) 6. Highlight tracks for a re-write autobiographical for words, pictures and music on a personal level (the story of own personal life) and professional life (the story of relationships with patients or clients… ..) 7. Facilitate the meeting between worlds and cultures through job training in cross-cultural contexts. This is strictly connected with participants of the groups always changing.
In short, the workshop will explore the theme of symbolic and archetypal content as a tool for dialogue with your inner world and the socio-cultural identity: «a bridge between the spirit of time» and reality of the soul (the spirit of the deep), between worlds and cultures. The method: The work begins by frequently ‘observation of images (which are made available to participants) and the discovery of details embedded in kaleidoscopic patterns. They will be able to attract the attention of individual differently for each. Their evocative function will be a source of suggestions aimed at new discoveries. The attention to the colors and the graphic treatment, their use and writing biographical and artistic creation as a tool for analytic work, in a therapeutic or self developing context. The images, expressed in painting, writing, and body expression, are explored by Psychodrama method and are the «red thread» through which runs the workshop. Particular attention is given to the function of the symbolic dimension as an interface between the reality of the soul, the group as a therapeutic and/or analytical (or training context) and relational social everyday life.
Eventually Psychodrama enactment will explore in the deep (naturally without any pressure) dreams, memories feelings emerging during the workshop.
Languages: E = English; I = Italian language
Materials needed: paper of the composition and format you prefer, colors (pastels or watercolors preferably rich shades), a notebook, and anyone who wants it can also be very useful compasses, rulers, curvilinear and glossy paper. For those accustomed to use a portable computer. The «genius loci» and participants are important to determine the language used in the workshops. More language could be used, in connections with the participants. Here It/ Engl but especially colors, images, painting, body…etc. The languages spoken in cross cultural contexts are easily understandable, especially through the mediation of images, gestures and voice.
