What is CAOA?

The Consultative Assembly of Organisational Affiliates (CAOA) is a structured forum within the International Association of Group Psychotherapy and Group Processes (IAGP). It promotes communication, consultation, and collaboration among IAGP’s organisational affiliates.

Representation and Governance

Members of the Assembly of Affiliates form the CAOA. The Assembly is represented at IAGP Board meetings through the CAOA Chairperson, who serves as a member of the IAGP Board. This ensures that the perspectives, needs, and contributions of affiliate organisations are included in the Association’s decision-making processes.

Participation and Engagement

Affiliate organisations are invited to:

  • Send representatives to CAOA meetings

  • Participate in the CAOA online discussion forum

  • Submit details of their events to be included in the IAGP Affiliates Events Calendar

Through these activities, CAOA strengthens collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional networking among affiliate organisations worldwide.

2. Advocacy and Representation: The Assembly represents the interests of the organizational affiliates within the IAGP, advocating for their needs and concerns.
3. Information Sharing: It serves as a platform for sharing information and best practices among affiliates, promoting continuous learning and improvement.

Benefits
1. Enhanced Decision-Making: The consultative process ensures that decisions made by the IAGP are well-informed and reflective of the needs and views of its diverse affiliates.
2. Increased Engagement: Organizational affiliates are more engaged and invested in the IAGP’s activities, fostering a stronger sense of community and shared purpose.
3. Strengthened Relationships: The Assembly helps build stronger relationships and trust between the IAGP and its affiliates, leading to more effective collaboration and support.

Implementation
1. Establishing the Assembly: Clear guidelines and procedures are established for forming the Assembly, including criteria for membership, roles and responsibilities, and meeting schedules.
2. Ongoing Evaluation: Regular evaluation of the Assembly’s effectiveness is conducted to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the IAGP and its affiliates.
