Dear Colleagues,
We are working hard on improving IAGP for our membership. We have been
realizing new plans and goals for this term, which includes projects on
the social and humanitarian level: we have just signed training projects
with competent authorities in India, Egypt and the West Bank/Palestine.
On regard of the last project we have not only included the dialogue
with but the active participation of Israeli colleagues as well. This
reflects a further extension of our educational and peace oriented
activities (including distance learning and supervision) with a focus on
trauma and disaster management by our special task force group. We have
also continued to facilitate the intercultural exchange between
different methods and generations with our regional conferences and the
summer academy in Granada (
http://www.granada-academy.org )
Finally we have also initiated new cooperation’s with the United Nations
(genocide prevention and the observation of human rights), with the
World Psychiatric Association and the International Association of
Family Therapy (IFTA).
Membership benefits include conference discounts, publications and
networking opportunities. As a member of our organization, you are
invited to become active in designing and contributing to the
development of the IAGP and its various projects. As an affiliate
organization you are also invited to publish the relevant information on
your professional events in a new
calendar on professional activities of our field around the world.
This calendar is published on our website and details will be circulated
on a regular basis to via our membership and our non-membership
lists with more than 10000 subscribers.
We hope after all to be in contact with you by our internet facilities
which are each time more important for a “group” experience of our
global community in between the real encounter. They are now bilingual
in English and Spanish. In addition, we have been working hard to
involve also speakers of other languages in the IAGP's activities.
Thanks to a link to a translation tool embedded in all our lists users
can contribute to discussions in their own language or receive the
translation of a message made originally in English or in Spanish. This
may facilitate the communication between us even more. We will soon be
introducing online collaboration services for our membership , fostering special interest groups on
research, professional exchange on clinical and social projects and the
development of our sections
Our next international congress in Cartagena/Colombia is coming ahead in
July 2012. You are cordially invited to join this unique international
congress which we celebrate every three years (last time in Rome with
more than 1500 participants), this time with a special focus on group
work for social transformation. You can warm-up to this event on our
special congress list exchanging with other colleagues via
the See You Soon discussion
list.
IAGP offer significant discounts to people in countries with lower
average income, as well as for students and retired people. We are now offering current, new and former
members the opportunity to join/renew for the next term (July
2012-July-2015) at the current term's rates, avoiding any fee increases
that will be made next term. In addition, if you have not yet paid for
