The IAGP thrives and evolves through the active participation of its international members. Membership applications are welcomed from both individuals and organizations. This page contains details of different types of IAGP memberships and renewals, as well as links to the relevant forms.

The IAGP's  2006-2009 membership forms are now online.  All individual and organizational IAGP members (except those who already have life membership) should renew their membership now to preserve their benefits.

Bullet INTRODUCTION
The IAGP operates a three-year billing cycle, corresponding to the interval between our international congresses.  The entire membership process (for both new members and renewals) can now be completed online, via a secure web server. We also offer an option to take out/renew your membership by fax or postal mail. For further details, please see the relevant sections below for individual members and affiliate organizations.

A. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP
Who can join?
Membership is open to trained group psychotherapists, consultants and group leaders who are sponsored by two current members of the IAGP. Student memberships are welcome from students enrolled in institutional training programs in group psychotherapy or university studies.

Benefits
Individual members receive Forum (our annual publication), Globeletter (our informal newsletter), our membership directory and an entry within its next printed edition, and reduced registration fees at IAGP-sponsored congresses.

Dues
Dues are payable for the entire period (3 years) between IAGP congresses. Payment of dues entitles the member to all privileges of membership until the conclusion of the next international congress (in 2006), or for life in the case of life membership.

Individual Life Membership Fee
IAGP life membership costs $1,500. We regret that we are unable to offer discounts or installments for this payment.

Individual Membership Dues for 2006-2009 (for new and renewing members)
To determine 2006-2009 membership dues, the IAGP has adopted the World Bank’s method rating of country income from 2006.( For details of the IAGP's country banding, please click here. (To find out about the World Bank Atlas method, please click here).) The IAGP also offers discounts on these dues for students and retired people. 2006-2009 dues are as follows:

Regular: $225
Retired: $75
Student: $60

COUNTRY BAND B - 50%  DUES
Regular: $112.50
Retired: $37.50
Student: $30

COUNTRY BAND C - 40% DUES
Regular: $90
Retired: $30
Student: $24

COUNTRY BAND D - 30%  DUES
Regular: $67.50
Retired: $22.50
Student: $18

Installment payment plans for the 2006-2009 term can be arranged. Please contact for details.

The IAGP may authorise a reduction in fees for people whose exceptional circumstances make them unable to afford the normal fee for their country band. For further information, please contact the IAGP Treasurer ().

Apply for IAGP Individual Membership (new individual members only)
To apply for individual membership of the IAGP, please fill in the online application form here. This brief form does not involve sending any payment. You will be asked to submit the payment and other membership forms once you have been accepted as an IAGP member.

Renew/Complete Your 2006-2009 IAGP Individual Membership (for renewing members, and for individuals who have just been accepted as members)
You may submit your payment and other membership forms either:
a) online by credit card, by filling in the secure online payment form, and then completing your other registration forms (membership directory entry and Section selections) online
OR
b) by mail/fax. Print out and complete the equivalent forms in Microsoft Word format. Send the completed forms to our postal address/fax (Details appear on the forms). You will be asked to provide your credit card details, or to enclose a photocopy of a banker’s draft/transfer in $US that was sent to the IAGP’s bank in Switzerland.

NB: Credit card payments generally involve considerably lower handling costs than bank transfers/drafts, for both the payer and the IAGP.

B. ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Who can join?
We welcome membership applications from both professional organizations and institutions in the group therapy and related fields.

Benefits
Organizational affiliates become members of our Consultative Assembly of Organizational Affiliates (CAOA), and are closely involved in IAGP planning and decision-making through representation at Board meetings (via the CAOA chair), at CAOA meetings and in our new CAOA online discussion forum. (Please contact our CAOA co-chairs - Maria van Noort and Frances Bonds-White: - if your organization is not yet represented on our online discussion list.) Organizational affiliates also receive a copy (one per organization) of IAGP publications, and their organization is listed in our Website and in the next printed edition of our membership directory. NB: If you belong to one of our affiliate organizations, you will receive copies of our congress announcements. However, you must apply to become an individual member of the IAGP if you also wish to receive our publications, our membership directory and an individual entry within its next printed edition, and reduced registration fees at IAGP-sponsored congresses.

Dues
Fees for organizational affiliates are calculated pro rata based on membership numbers and geographic location of the organization. Apply for IAGP Membership (new organizational members only)
Organizations interested in becoming affiliates of the IAGP may obtain a document containing further information about the application process here. After verifying all data, the Membership Chairperson will present the application to the Board of Directors for approval.
