The Analytic Group Section Discussion List (formerly the Group Analysis Section List) has been set up to foster dialogue amongst practitioners of analytic group work and people working in related fields.

Giovanna Cantarella, list owner
Lives and works in Milan (Italy) as an individual and group psychoanalyst running mixed gender and women's goups in private practice and in the National Health Service. She is researching the influence of cultural elements in group and institutional dynamics.

WHAT ARE WE DISCUSSING?

The dialogue has gone through discussion of the 4 papers presented in the 2011 AGPA New York Annual Conference
in the IAGP open session: collective trauma and group analysis: the international perspective.
 
 

WHAT ARE THE LIST PROJECTS?

We are forming a list committee for helping the owner and moderator to build increasing participation with their advice. List members are invited to participate
 
 

WHAT ARE OUR ACTIVITIES?

We will continue in the Oporto IAGP Mediterranean conference the Section dialogue between group analysis and neuroscience. A paper by Catherina Mela will be sent through the list and discussed by list members.
We are organising Section events and joint events with other IAGP Sections for the next Cartagena 2012 IAGP congress.
We will implement section links with local affiliates inviting us for combined meetings or events

Catherine Mela, list moderator
is a Group Analyst, medical doctor, Neurologist with specification on Basic Research. She is also a Trainer and Supervisor , Director of the Education of Group Analysis,
at the Hellenic Organisation of Psychotherapy and Education in Group Analysis, in Athens, Greece (HOPE in G.A). She is a Board elected member of the IAGP, Chair of its Education Committee. She is also a Full Member of the Group Analytic Society (London),  Staff member of the International Summer Academy of Granada and Secretary of IOGAP (Melbourne).

Marco Longo, list moderator
Lives and works in Rome. He is a psychoanalyst and group analyst, and editor of psychomedia.it. He is an expert in psychotechnologies and psychoemergency.

The forum is open to professionals trained or interested in furthering the practice of analytic group work. This forum is open to both IAGP members and non-members. However, we strongly recommend that all eligible subscribers become IAGP members. For further details of IAGP membership, please click here.)

 
Bullet WHAT TOPICS ARE COVERED AND HOW IS THE LIST RUN?
List members can use the forum to discuss topics such as:
a) Analytic group setting and clinical process and practice, in different countries, cultures and contexts
b) Problems and conflicts in everyday group analytic practice, especially with difficult patients (e.g. with borderline and other personality disorders)
c) New developments in group analytic research and practice
d) Congresses, meetings, seminars, courses and recent publications on different aspects of analytic group work.
